I did some more research and ordered another set, which arrived promptly, fitted perfectly, and look amazing.
I would recommend these bars, excellent quality, coupled with excellent customers service from Sportsbikeshop. Great looking bars and easy to install. Description states for Ducati Multistrada 1200 (15-) but I can confirm they also fit the Multistrada 950S.
Hopefully I won't need to give them a'thorough' testing anytime soon but they certainly look like they would cope. Fitted in about an hour, the instructions were easy to follow and included the Allen/wrench sizes and torque settings.
